🦻🏾 Come all, come wide, come far! We welcome you to join us this Wednesday, April 8 at @ble___ach Listening Room for the 12th instalment of Sensational Listening Session (SLS).
📻 This month on SLS, we listen to the sounds and music of multi-talented FKA Twigs and the Berlin-based Brutalismus 3000 after their recent tour stop at UBC’s Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Stadium.

Born in Cheltenham, England, FKA twigs, has fast risen to prominence as one of the most celebrated pop artists of her generation. Her unique creativity embodies the culture of the last decade—a fusion of music, cinema, art, and fashion.
Her self-made and unique creativity has earned her countless awards and nominations; she embodies the culture of the last decade—a fusion of music, cinema, art, and fashion. Her persona is art, and her life story is woven into her artistry. Twigs' music catapulted her to international acclaim, garnering not only awards and prizes but also a global fan base.
Her mixtape CAPRISONGS (2022) culminated in her receiving the NME's Godlike Genius Award, making her the youngest recipient to date. Recently, twigs graced the cover of British Vogue & made her solo debut as a dancer with the Martha Graham Company, performing at the company's 98th season Gala in New York.
On April 25th in London, FKA twigs received the prestigious award for outstanding contribution to UK Music by the Music Producers Guild. Twigs shows no signs of slowing down, gearing up for the launch of her next album and a lifetime of creative endeavours.
Brutalismus 3000 is a Berlin-based duo (Theo Zeitner and Victoria Vassiliki) that combines elements of hardstyle, punk and techno to create a fresh and contemporary sound. Lyrics written in Slovak, English, and German add diversity and openness to the duo’s performance, highlighting the different rhythms of the languages.
Their performances are expressive and unconventional, featuring fast-paced, rough kicks, unique synths, and classic 909 sounds. They perform around the globe, leaving a lasting impression with their outstanding tracks and unique live sets, making an impact with their performances at Berlin’s prestigious Berghain, California’s Coachella or their iconic Boiler Room. As they have exciting shows, playing the world’s biggest festivals, they aim to expand their project to a wider audience while maintaining the originality and edge of their sound, which will be heard across the globe.
Fun fact Theo Zeitner and Victoria Vassiliki Daldas met in Berlin... on Tinder. The perfect match: soon after, they decided to start producing music, which is like another match between Atari Teenage Riot and PC Music.

Session Details:
💿 @jalade__will be joined by residents: Losso (@losso_____works) and Kikino (@kristenliston), punctuating the session with a curated selection of tracks placing the FKA twigs and Brutalismus 3000 sound in a wider musical conversation before spending some to focus solely on their discographies.
During this week’s SLS, we have Andrew Tavukciyan, a Canadian-Armenian multidisciplinary artist and muralist, returning to help facilitate “open draw”. Tavukciyan will present a live drawing, encouraging you to do the same. Let the music guide you; embrace abstraction. Don’t think, just draw.
Through the pairing of sound and visual art, the intervention invites participants to explore the embodied and imaginative potential of cross-modal perception — where listening informs seeing, and sensory boundaries begin to blur.
💗 All levels of listeners are welcome.
